Afrin Stele Middle section of a four-sided stele was found in a field near the town of Afrin, apparently not in situ. Roughly 0.5 meter wide fragment shows a partial Storm-God figure in one face (A) and a Hieroglyphic Luwian inscription on the other sides. Right side (D) of the stele has not survived. The left (B) and back (C) displays a three-line inscription which is too short and damaged to provide an insight to the context. It was in Ain Dara excavation house in 1995. Its current whereabouts is unclear. Click on the pictures for larger images.
