Çiftlik

This is a roughly hemi-cylindrical block with a flat front. It was found in 1933 in a house in the Çiftlikköy (now Ovaçiftlikköy) village of Yeşilhisar district in Kayseri province. Block is 71 cm tall and 43 cm wide. Flat front side has a relief of a male figure with a badly damaged head. The inscription on the front side surrounding the relief are also in bad shape, but the eight-line Luwian inscription on the rounded back side is almost fully preserved. It is written by a “servant” of Tuwati (see also Kululu ), who makes dedications to Tarhunza, Hebat, and other gods for some buildings. The “servant” may imply that he is a local administrator under Tuwati. It has been dated to the mid-8th century BCE and currently in Kayseri Museum.
