Elbistan The basalt orthostat fragment which shows a male figure and the back half of a sphinx comes from Elbistan Höyük, just 8 km east of Zincirli. It was found during the Zincirli excavations of Felix von Luschan. It is in Istanbul Archaeology Museum but not on display. Click on pictures for a larger image.
