Quellgrotte Stele (BOĞAZKÖY 12)

The rectangular limestone stele with the hieroglyphic inscriptions is about 70 cm high, 40 cm wide and 30 cm thick. It was excavated in 1968 by the so-called Quellgrotte ("fountain-cave") by the southwest corner of the Great temple area. Incised writing on the stele indicates a dedication to a deity (Stord-god?) by a king of Isuwa which was a vassal kingdom of the Hittites. The stele is on display in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
