The right (west) flank sphinx of the Sphinx Gate located at the top of Yerkapı at the southern end of the city. Both sphinxes are made of a reddish limestone and have been found in heavily fragmented condition. The right flank sphinx shown below was originally taken to Berlin for repairs and had been on display in Pergamon Museum until 2012 when it was returned to Turkey. The left side sphinx had also been moved to Istanbul Museum. Today the originals of both sphinxes are in Boğazkale Museum.
