Hasancıklı Statue

The basalt statue was found in the village of Hasancikli, about 6 km west of the city of Kahramanmaraş. The head of the statue is broken, and the present piece is about 1.10 m high. Its original location is not known. In comparison to other Neo-Hittite period statues, it is out of proportions, and has more angular lines. Whether it dates to the period of the Gurgum kingdom remains in doubt. A date in the 11th to 10th centuries BCE has been suggested. It is on display at the Kahramanmaraş Museum.
