Slaying of the Dragon

The relief probably shows a scene from Hittite mythology. depicting the slaying of the serpent Illuyanka by the Storm God. Accordingly, the figure behind the Storm God should represent his son Šarruma. The limestone orthostat is 0.43 m high and 1.58 m long. Its find spot was not recorded, but the orthostat is likely to have been part of the east wing of the Lion Gate. Dates to the 12th-11th centuries BCE. It is on display at the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
