Portal lion

The basalt portal lion was found in Hama citadel during the Danish excavation in 1937 in secondary context at the courtyard in front of the buildings I-III. It is about 1.17 m long, 0.64 m high, and 0.55 m wide. Its broken ears, muzzle, and eyes had been restored in Aleppo Museum (last image below). Dated to around 900 BCE.
