The basalt stele from the King's Gate area was found in 1911-1914 excavations. The lion head fragment found during the recent excavation that started in 2011 apparently belongs to this orthostat, as the superimposed image below reveals. The main orthostat is in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum. Head section is currently in Karkamış.
