Stele

The bottom half of a basalt stele was reportedly found sometime before 1911 in the Silsile/Sinsile village, now known as Soylu, about 8 km to the west of Karkamış. The rectangular gap on the left side is also due to subsequent damage. It has the last 6 lines of a badly preserved inscription (KARKAMIŠ A15a = SİLSİLE 1). Currently in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara.
