Gate Lion
Two of the five gate lions found buried in the so-called "lion pit" in front of the Inner Citadel Gate were likely originally situated on the left and right sides of a passageway at the Inner Citadel Gate. The basalt lion of the left flank is 1.70 m high and 2.63 m long, and the one on the right flank is 1.70 m high and 2.75 m long. They currently decorate the entrance of one of the buildings in the Istanbul Archaeology Museum.
